PRISONS

Our prisons serve no lasting good.
They don't teach wrong from right.
Their harsh, uncaring treatment could
Form inmates filled with fright.

Many inmates, far from God,
Have seldom seen what's good.
Example like a gentle prod
Could show them how they could

Be so much better than they are.
How sad to see that some,
Through gross injustice, push men far
From what they might become.

As bad they enter, worse they leave,
An utter waste of time.
The faulty guidance they receive
Just turns them back to crime.

Why not, when people reach the brink
Of what they can endure,
Just teach them what the Lord would think?
His thoughts are straight and sure.
