I see that many scientists do not accept that God exists. Possibly the perception of a purely spiritual being is beyond human ability. I know that I have never perceived God or any spiritual being. The best I can do is accept the testimony of others.
Actually, much of what I believe on any subject is what I have accepted from others. I do not have the resources of scientists, so I cannot investigate on my own what others tell me. I can reject it, or, if I feel what others say is credible, simply accept their opinions. So in most things, I wind up believing what others say.
Did God really make a revelation? I can’t verify it. I might have doubts about what others tell me, after all, they weren’t the first persons to hear those things. The best I can do is to try to investigate the historical accuracy of what they are telling me. If my investigation leads me to believe what they tell me really did come from God, then I have the choice to believe or not believe. If the claims really did come from God, however, is there any possibly that God is mistaken? Or that he was not being truthful? If what is attributed to God’s revelation is true, then it would be foolish for me not to believe it.
However, what some Darwinists claim: (that God does not exist), if that is really true, then it doesn’t matter whether I believe the claims of others or refuse to believe. If no God exists; and, when I die, I will pass into the same nothingness I arose from, what difference does it make if I believe what they say or do not believe? Ultimately there is nothing there to believe in.
