Observation of nature and experimentation makes humans assume that everything is changing. Everything seems to be headed toward some logical fulfillment of its potential and, if one tries to visualize the past, one could easily imagine a slow retrogression back to the ultimate beginning of everything. The theory of evolution is based on this, and there is a lot that is useful in that theory because everything is, indeed, changing. But to apply this theory to God Himself or to argue that God does not exist is, I think, a big mistake.
God is different than the physical universe. God exists because of his own nature. God always existed. God will never cease to exist, and God is unchanging. The physical universe, on the other hand, is changing. It arose out of nothing simply because God wants it to exist. Everything about the physical universe was created this way: matter, energy, space, time, and the laws that govern matter and energy — everything.
I think I will never understand God if I focus too much on the physical universe. One must perceive the divine mind, this creative power, hovering above the physical universe. I think the only way I can approach perceiving this is to simply believe the revelation that has been attribute to that divine mind.
