BIG CHALLENGE

If I really believe Scripture, I can understand that God created a two-part universe. One part is spiritual. There is no trace of matter in it, no energy, no dimensions: length, breath, width, even time. It is purely spiritual, like God is. In that spiritual part, God created angels. They were all formed from nothing. They didn’t contribute anything to their coming into existence. God created them good and gave them everything they have. All God expected from them is that they choose “good” out of “good.” Surprisingly, some of them rebelled against God and chose “evil” out of “good.”

Then God created the physical universe. This is the first occurrence of anything physical for all eternity before creation. Being physical, it is much different from God’s spiritual nature and from the spiritual nature of the angels as well. Actually it is a far lower nature than the nature God gave to angels.

God exiled the rebellious angels to this physical world. And since I can observe that evil has a very strong presence in this world, I can presume that God must have intended these rebellious angels to find their way amidst all the evils in the physical world. The first two human beings belong to this physical world. Actually God told them they were Lords of this world. One of the rebellious angels, Satan, beguiled the first two humans and encouraged them not to obey God.

In punishment, God put enmity between the woman and her seed and Satan and his seed. It seems the struggle between good and evil occurs in this physical world. I was born into that struggle. It looks to me like God uses us humans to confront evil, hopefully to eventually defeat it. Doesn’t it look like humans were created imperfect, and out their imperfection, humans can choose “good” out of “evil?”

Big Challenge for me!
